FIRST THURSDAYS There are many art galleries in our building and so when Whitechapel Art Gallery initiated East London wide late gallery openings on the first Thursday of every month we were surrounded by folks trooping through the lifts and balconies. Irritated at first we soon decided to use it as stimulus to put on our own monthly shows: This is an opportunity to experiment with themes and ideas, to see work by friends and colleagues that we previously missed and to showcase work and work in progress by the incredible variety of most excellent people who use this space and that provided by our lovely neighbours.
